Rabat: The Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, Abdellatif Hammouchi, and the Inspector General of the National Police of the Republic of Liberia, Gregory Coleman, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing security cooperation. The signing took place in Rabat during the 7th edition of the Open Days of the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, this memorandum reflects a mutual desire between Morocco and Liberia to strengthen ties of friendship, technical cooperation, and operational partnership between their police services. Both nations view this cooperation as foundational to consolidating common security interests. The MoU is designed to establish a robust framework for police cooperation, targeting various forms of transnational crime, terrorism, and violent extremism. It emphasizes the exchange of information, technical assistance, operational cooperation, and capacity building for security services.
Additionally, the agreement outlines plans to broaden police cooperation in areas such as migration, border policing, scientific and technical policing, and police training. It also focuses on advancing training methods to enhance policing skills. The signing of this MoU underscores the significance of fortifying security partnerships within Africa, contributing to South-South cooperation. Furthermore, it highlights the DGSN’s commitment to engaging with new regional and international partners to promote the Moroccan security model and support the Kingdom’s overarching interests.
