Morocco’s Commitment to Enhancing Police Institution Under King Mohammed VI’s Guidance: INTERPOL President

Rabat: Under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Morocco is strategically investing in the advancement of its police institution, focusing on operational capabilities, training, technology, and the enhancement of working conditions for its staff, stated Lucas Philippe, President of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), in Rabat.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Philippe highlighted that the significance of a police institution is evaluated on various levels, starting with the internal pride felt by its members. This pride extends outward to citizens, building trust, and further projects credibility on an international scale. Philippe made these remarks during the opening of the Open Days of the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).

Philippe underscored the DGSN’s efforts to transform the police-citizen relationship by improving reception, responsiveness, service continuity, and fostering a culture of results and performance. He noted that the new DGSN headquarters embodies this ambition, emphasizing the necessity of resources, vision, and recognition to support the security missions entrusted to the police.

Philippe remarked on INTERPOL’s long-standing success, attributing it to the unifying power of security. He expressed his support for DGSN’s belief that the prominence of their work is influenced by the conditions under which police officers perform their duties daily. This aligns with INTERPOL’s ambition to expand its headquarters in Lyon to reflect its global vision.

He further elaborated on INTERPOL’s vision of fostering a global police community that includes 25 million officers from 196 member countries, united by a common mission to protect and build trust. Philippe emphasized that security is fundamental to stability and attractiveness, and Morocco’s commitment to strengthening its law enforcement agencies is evident today.

Philippe concluded by extending congratulations to the DGSN on its anniversary and best wishes for success as it embarks on this significant chapter in its history.
