Rabat: The agreement was signed between the heads of Morocco’s National Authority for Probity, Prevention and the Fight against Corruption, Mohamed Benalilou, and C´te d’Ivoire’s High Authority for Good Governance (HABG), Zoro Bi Ballo Epiphane. This collaboration aims to address corruption and enhance transparency through shared initiatives.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the cooperation focuses on exchanging expertise between the two institutions, conducting joint awareness-raising activities, and providing training on best practices in preventing corruption. Additionally, the agreement seeks to establish an African network of similar institutions to promote responsible governance across various countries on the continent.
Under the agreement, both institutions commit to promoting the exchange of data and research related to good governance, the prevention of corruption and related offenses, and the measures taken to combat this phenomenon. It also involves organizing seminars and scientific workshops on themes relevant to their areas of intervention, in line with their respective national legislation.
In a statement to the press, Morocco’s Benalilou emphasized that this MoU “reinforces African cooperation in an area as important and sensitive as the fight against corruption.” Similarly, C´te d’Ivoire’s party noted that the document paves the way for cooperation in the fight against financial and economic crime, with an emphasis on sharing experiences and exchanging data.
This cooperation aligns with the provisions of conventions ratified by both countries, notably the United Nations Convention and the African Union Convention.
