Morocco Obtains Fisheries’ Compliance Recognition from US National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration

Rabat: Morocco has secured a significant certification from the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), enabling the Kingdom to continue exporting its seafood products to the US market. This compliance recognition, effective from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2029, is a critical development for Morocco’s fisheries sector, the State Secretariat for Maritime Fisheries announced in a press release.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, this recognition followed a thorough review by US authorities of Morocco’s application for compliance. The conclusion was that all national fisheries included on the ‘List of Foreign Fisheries’ now meet US standards. This strategic achievement solidifies the presence and competitive edge of Moroccan seafood products in one of the world’s largest markets, while also reinforcing international trust in the Kingdom’s dedication to environmental standards and sustainability in fisheries management.

This development underscores the maturity of Morocco’s national public policies concerning marine resource preservation, achieved through the implementation of effective measures ensuring sustainability and optimal exploitation. It aligns with Morocco’s continuous efforts to enhance the competitiveness of its fisheries sector, integrate national products into global markets, and balance economic growth with sustainable resource preservation, as outlined in the national strategy for fisheries development and promotion, the press release further stated.
