Morocco Prioritizes Education as Key Element in South-South Cooperation Efforts

Rabat: Morocco is steadfastly committed to making education a strategic pillar of its South-South cooperation, as emphasized by the Moroccan delegation during an open session on “education in conflict situations in Africa.” The delegation highlighted Morocco’s dedication to ensuring every child can access education in a safe and inclusive environment, guided by the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Morocco annually extends scholarships to thousands of students across the African continent, allowing them to pursue university and professional training in crucial fields such as science, health, agriculture, engineering, and teacher training. This initiative is part of a broader effort by the Kingdom to foster peace and development through education.

The Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI) plays a pivotal role in facilitating this pillar of South-South cooperation. By welcoming and supporting young Africans, the agency reinforces the values of soli
darity and mutually beneficial partnerships. The Moroccan delegation also noted that the Kingdom shares its expertise in educational reform, content digitization, and crisis education planning with various African nations. These joint projects focus on building and rehabilitating educational infrastructure, training educational professionals, and enhancing educational systems in vulnerable regions.

The delegation highlighted the severe impacts of armed conflicts and prolonged crises on education systems, such as the destruction of school infrastructure and forced displacement of teachers and students. These challenges, they noted, significantly hinder access to education, underscoring the importance of Morocco’s cooperative efforts to address these issues in affected regions.
