Morocco’s Govt. Head Showcases Royal-Led Development Momentum at UNGA

New york: In Morocco’s address during the General Debate of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, Akhannouch emphasized that Morocco has made significant strides in the field of energy transition, by investing in renewable energies and strengthening its capacity to respond to climate change.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, he stressed that Morocco places great importance on collective action to overcome these global challenges, which threaten international peace and security, and to work toward achieving common goals for the benefit of humanity.

Addressing the issue of water stress resulting from climate change, drought, and demographic pressure, the Head of Government noted that Morocco, in line with the High Directives of His Majesty the King, has developed innovative policies to tackle this critical issue.

Among the measures adopted by Morocco in this area, Akhannouch cited inter-basin water transfers, seawater desalination, reuse of treated wastewater, promotion of water-efficient agricultural irrigation systems, and the construction of dams.

Turning to the global technological “revolution,” particularly the rapid development of AI, the Head of Government referred to the ‘Digital Morocco 2030’ strategy, which aims to accelerate the country’s digital transformation.

He further noted that artificial intelligence presents tremendous opportunities in areas such as health, education, and agriculture, but also requires adaptation to the rapid changes it continues to generate.
