Morocco’s Transformative Leadership Lauded by Former So Paulo Governor

Brasilia: In an insightful interview with MAP-Brasilia during the celebration of Morocco’s Throne Day, Joo Doria, the former Governor of So Paulo, extolled the Kingdom’s significant strides under visionary royal leadership. He emphasized Morocco’s rapid industrial growth and the establishment of world-class infrastructure, which have solidified its position as a “reference” for foreign investors. Highlighted projects include the Tanger-Med port, deemed “one of the most important on the continent,” and the “Al Boraq” high-speed line, Africa’s first of its kind.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Doria also commended Morocco’s advancements in clean energy, particularly through the Noor solar complex, which has positioned the Kingdom as a “global model of energy transition.” He praised Morocco’s leadership in seawater desalination and its efficient use of water resources, noting significant progress in food security through agricultural modernization aimed at resilience.

Doria remarked, “Morocco, under the impetus of His Majesty the King, is facing global challenges with structured policies and sustained investments.” He believes these efforts reflect “Morocco’s commitment to resilient development in line with the SDGs,” a commitment made possible by the King’s pivotal role in ensuring a “long-term vision.”

The former governor asserted that Morocco represents a “concrete model” of successful reforms driven by planning, dialogue, and foresight. Doria suggested that Brazil could learn from Morocco’s industrial, educational, and environmental strategies, as well as its logistics infrastructure improvements, research and innovation promotion, and cultural heritage enhancement. These aspects, he noted, “resonate strongly with the internal challenges facing Brazil.”

Doria further mused, “For countries of the Global South, the Moroccan model is inspiring: development does not necessarily equate with disconnect but can be achieved through renewal based on identity, stability, and ambition.” He highlighted Morocco’s “privileged geostrategic location” and its essential role as a continental link promoting “active diplomacy” to bolster South-South cooperation.

He cited the Royal Atlantic Initiative as “a concrete example of this integration ambition,” poised to enhance economic, cultural, and logistical connections with Latin American countries.
