Rabat: Algerian writer and journalist Anouar Malek revealed on Saturday in Rabat his new book entitled “polisario-Iran: The Secrets of Terrorism from Tehran to Tindouf”, which highlights the proven ties between the Iranian regime and the “polisario” militias, as well as the collusion of the separatists with armed terrorist groups and traffickers of all kinds operating in the Sahel-Saharan region.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, during a conference organized at the initiative of the Front of Democratic Forces (FFD), Malek noted that his book, which will soon be published in Morocco, provides damning evidence drawn from leaked Syrian intelligence documents, revealing the indoctrination and recruitment of hundreds of “polisario” members into Iranian militias.
These “polisario” elements fought not only alongside the forces of the deposed regime of Bashar al-Assad, but also within Iranian militias, notably the Lebanese Hezbollah, explained the Algerian writer, whose book is the result of a series of journalistic investigations he had been conducting over the years.
In this regard, Malek also reported on extended visits to the Tindouf camps by Hezbollah leaders and officers from Iran’s Quds Force, part of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), noting that these visits were part of Iran’s ideological and religious indoctrination efforts in North Africa.
The “polisario” and its militias are no longer merely collaborators with the IRGC, but have now become armed proxies of the Iranian regime in North Africa, and more specifically in Algeria, he warned, adding that the “polisario” has also become a tool for Quds Force infiltration in the Sahel-Saharan region.
Moreover, he pointed out that “polisario” leaders and fighters have traveled to Hezbollah strongholds in southern Lebanon, where they were trained in guerrilla warfare, the handling of explosives for assassination purposes, and other combat techniques used by terrorist groups.
Furthermore, Malek revealed that the “polisario” militias are behind a lucrative arms trafficking operation in the Sahel-Saharan region, thereby contributing to regional instability and insecurity.
According to the writer, this trafficking involves weapons and ammunition received by the “polisario” from its sponsors, which are then diverted and resold “for millions of dollars” to terrorist groups and organizations.
The book “polisario-Iran: The Secrets of Terrorism from Tehran to Tindouf,” which is set to be published in Arabic, French, English, and Spanish, is backed by a series of revelations and leaked secret documents from Syrian intelligence, especially in the aftermath of the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime, according to its author.
As such, the content of the book constitutes “tangible proof that the polisario is, in essence, an Iranian terrorist organization,” Malek concluded.
