Moroccan Delegation Engages in Parlatino’s 39th Annual General Assembly

Panama city: A Moroccan parliamentary delegation participated in the proceedings of the 39th Annual General Assembly of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament (Parlatino), held on March 26 and 27 in the Republic of Panama.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Abderrahmane Oiffa, a member of the Bureau of the House of Councilors and its representative to the Parlatino, addressed the opening session. He pointed out that the Moroccan Parliament is the first from Africa and the Arab world to gain the status of a permanent observer member within the region’s parliamentary unions.

Further, he discussed Morocco’s economic, human, and political strengths, which are instrumental in enhancing cooperation between countries in the Global South. Oiffa also mentioned the strategic initiative led by King Mohammed VI to improve Sahel countries’ access to the Atlantic Ocean, aiming to create a framework involving 23 African states bordering the Atlantic.

On the sidelines of the assembly, the Moroccan delegation held several bilateral meetings with various heads of delegations and organizations. These discussions centered on strengthening both bilateral and multilateral cooperation, and the delegation expressed appreciation for the support from regional states and parliaments regarding Morocco’s territorial integrity and the autonomy initiative, deemed the credible solution for the Moroccan Sahara dispute.
