Morocco and Central African Republic Sign Memorandum to Enhance Judicial Cooperation

Rabat: The Minister of Justice, Abdellatif Ouahbi, and his peer from the Central African Republic, Abazene Arnaud Djoubaye, signed, on Wednesday in Rabat, a memorandum of understanding regarding cooperation in judicial administration.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, this memorandum of understanding aligns with the sustained dynamic of South-South cooperation and the strengthening of African partnerships championed by the Kingdom of Morocco. It aims to establish a structured institutional framework designed for the exchange of expertise, the development of judicial working mechanisms, human resources capacity building, and the improvement of judicial services governance, in accordance with international standards.

The areas of cooperation mainly cover the initial and continuous training of magistrates, administrative executives, and legal professionals. It also includes the exchange of experiences regarding the administrative and financial organization of courts and the development of alternative d
ispute resolution methods, notably mediation and arbitration, thereby contributing to the improvement of judicial efficiency.

Both parties also focused on improving access to justice for vulnerable groups, particularly women and children. They shared expertise in judicial logistics, the application of the Hague Conventions, and the organization of study visits and scientific meetings. A coordination and monitoring body will be established to ensure the effective implementation of the cooperation programs.

Speaking to the press, the Central African Minister of Justice welcomed this partnership, describing it as an important step in strengthening cooperation in judicial administration. He emphasized that this initiative will contribute to improving the governance of judicial institutions, fostering the exchange of expertise, and developing human resources skills.

For his part, Ouahbi stated that the signing of this memorandum reflects the strong cooperative relations between Morocco and the Central African R
epublic, as well as their shared desire to deepen them. He announced that a meeting will be held next June with the aim of signing further agreements covering cooperation in criminal and civil matters, as well as training and judicial cooperation.
