Morocco Reaffirms Strong Opposition to Iran’s Aggression Against Arab Nations

Geneva: The Kingdom of Morocco on Wednesday reiterated its strongest condemnation of the attacks carried out by Iran against several Arab countries, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Jordan, during the 61st session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC) in Geneva.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Morocco’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva, Omar Zniber, described the aggression as a serious violation of the national sovereignty of the affected Arab nations and a threat to regional security and stability. Zniber conveyed a message on behalf of Morocco, emphasizing the nation’s solidarity with each of the impacted countries and denouncing Iran’s actions as undermining efforts to foster regional cooperation.

The statement highlighted that the aggression is part of a persistent pattern of activities aiming at destabilization, including Iran’s support for extremist and separatist groups and threats to the territorial integrity of Arab states. Morocco strongly censures Iran’s targeting of civilian areas and infrastructure with missile and drone attacks.

Furthermore, Morocco condemned Iran’s attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and expressed support for measures by the International Maritime Organization to ensure freedom of navigation in the region. The ambassador also endorsed United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817 and Morocco’s co-sponsorship of a draft resolution before the Human Rights Council.

The draft resolution condemns the unprovoked attacks by Iran against Gulf states and Jordan, expressing concern over strikes on civilians and infrastructure, and highlighting their impact on human rights, especially for vulnerable populations. It also emphasizes the regional and global effects of military escalation on maritime trade, supply chains, food security, and living conditions, while reaffirming support for the sovereignty of the targeted states and their right to self-defense.
