Morocco to Co-Host 2030 World Cup with Portugal and Spain, FIFA Chief Calls It ‘A Huge Celebration of Humanity’

Zurich: The 2030 FIFA World Cup will see Morocco, Portugal, and Spain coming together as co-hosts in what FIFA President Gianni Infantino describes as ‘a huge celebration of humanity.’ Infantino praised Morocco’s rich football heritage and its passionate fanbase, promising an unparalleled welcome for visitors.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Infantino highlighted Morocco’s impressive showing at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, where the Moroccan team became the first from Africa to reach the semi-finals. He noted that Moroccan fans left a significant impression with their unique and enthusiastic support.

The decision marks a historic moment for FIFA, as the organization aims to bring the tournament to five confederations and ten FIFA Member Associations between 2026 and 2034. Infantino emphasized the global reach of the upcoming tournaments, moving from North America in 2026 to South America and then Africa and Europe in 2030, before heading to Asia in 2034. He described this progression as a messag
e of unity and strength for the football community.

The official appointment of Morocco, Portugal, and Spain as host countries for the 2030 FIFA World Cup was confirmed during an extraordinary session of the FIFA Congress, chaired by Infantino from Zurich via videoconference. The congress also approved Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay to host the three centenary matches, with Saudi Arabia confirmed as the host for the 2034 World Cup.
