Morocco-UK Strategic Dialogue Marks New Era in Bilateral Partnership


London: The 5th session of the Morocco-UK Strategic Dialogue has been hailed as a significant milestone in the bilateral relations between the two countries. Co-chaired with Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, the British Foreign Secretary emphasized the meeting as “a new era of partnership,” highlighting the deep-rooted historic and lasting ties between the Royal Families that have spanned over eight centuries.



According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the British Foreign Secretary expressed eagerness to elevate the partnership to more ambitious levels. He praised the transformative initiatives underway in Morocco, led by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, and acknowledged the consistent strengthening of bilateral relations in alignment with the Sovereign’s vision.



The dialogue session led to the signing of various memoranda of understanding and cooperation agreements covering critical areas such as migration, counterterrorism, education, climate change, health, and infrastructure development. These agreements are designed to enhance economic exchanges and foster shared growth and development between the two nations.



On the diplomatic front, the British official reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to an international order rooted in the rule of law and the principles of the United Nations Charter, stressing the importance of respecting state sovereignty and territorial integrity.



Strengthening relations with Morocco is a key aspect of the United Kingdom’s strategy in Africa, reflecting its pragmatic and progressive foreign policy. The Strategic Dialogue, launched in London on July 5, 2018, serves as a vital mechanism to consolidate and further deepen the historic ties between the two Kingdoms.
