Morocco’s Cultural Week Kicks Off in Mexico with Vibrant Ceremony


Mexico city: The second edition of Morocco’s Cultural Week commenced with an energetic ceremony in Mexico City, showcasing performances by Moroccan artists that highlighted the Kingdom’s rich arts and cultural heritage.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the event, which runs until January 31, is organized by the Moroccan Embassy in Mexico in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy, along with the Chamber of Crafts of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region. Attendees at the opening included notable figures from culture, art, diplomacy, sports, and members of the Moroccan community residing in Mexico.

The ceremony featured performances by the musical group “Aabidat Rma,” a parade of Moroccan caftans, and exhibitions focusing on Moroccan crafts, gastronomy, and zellige, all of which emphasize the Kingdom’s artistic and cultural diversity. The initial phase of the week, starting January 26 in Mexico City, will include Moroccan cuisine, folk music evenings, classi
cal Moroccan music concerts, photography exhibitions, caftan fashion shows, and a craft exhibition.

Following its stint in Mexico City, the event will move to the state of Tabasco, specifically the Villahermosa Cultural Center, where further cultural and artistic activities are planned. Morocco’s Cultural Week will conclude with the Kingdom’s participation as a guest of honor at the Alfonso Ortiz Tirado Festival (FAOT) in the state of Sonora, underscoring the strong cultural ties between Morocco and Mexico.
