Rabat: Chairwoman of the Moroccan High Authority for Audiovisual Communication (HACA), Latifa Akharbach, and Chairwoman of the Albanian Audiovisual Media Authority (AMA), Armela Krasniqi, convened for their inaugural bilateral meeting in Rabat on Wednesday. The meeting marks a significant step in HACA’s strategic plan to expand its exchange and interaction with international regulatory bodies, aiming to enhance legal, operational, and technical regulatory mechanisms to support a high-quality audiovisual landscape that respects citizens’ media rights.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the meeting highlights the mutual intent of both organizations to forge cooperative links, following previous interactions within media regulator networks such as the Francophone Network of Media Regulators (REFRAM) and the Mediterranean Regulatory Authorities Network (RIRM). The visit of AMA’s President, Armela Krasniqi, accompanied by Secretary General Romelda Rrapollari, was at the invitation of Akharbach and provided
a platform for both parties to present their respective mandates, organizational structures, and operational methodologies.
The discussions, which included HACA Director General Benaïssa Asloun and several department directors, concentrated on the common challenges posed by the digital transformation of the media landscape and the significant changes within media ecosystems. Krasniqi shared insights into Albania’s legal framework for media regulation, especially in the context of Albania’s EU membership application and the ongoing alignment of its regulatory standards with those of Europe.
