Rabat: Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, announced on Tuesday that Operation Marhaba 2025 will focus on ensuring traffic fluidity, enhancing security, providing local support, and maintaining heightened health vigilance. Speaking during question time at the House of Councillors, Bourita detailed the operational plans and infrastructure enhancements anticipated for the initiative.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Bourita emphasized that 29 ships from seven shipping companies will operate on 12 routes from the ports of Italy, France, and Spain. A budget of approximately MAD 28 million has been allocated to improve the reception infrastructure at the port of Tanger-Med. Security measures are set to be enhanced through strengthened border control mechanisms, while local support will be facilitated via 24 reception centers, including 18 in France and 6 abroad. Additional human resources will be mobilized in accordance with High Royal Instructions.
The consulates will operate from June 15 to September 15 on a permanent basis, including weekends and public holidays. Staffing levels will be increased, and mobile consulates will be established to support the operation, which is under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, benefiting three million citizens. Health vigilance is also integral to the operation, with specialized teams stationed on roads and at rest areas to ensure safety and well-being.
Bourita highlighted that preparation for this significant operation involved multiple meetings of the National Transit Commission, chaired by the Ministry of the Interior. Additionally, a Moroccan-Spanish meeting was organized in Cadiz on May 29, along with thematic sectoral meetings, to ensure comprehensive planning and execution of Operation Marhaba 2025.
